Call Genie expands its offerings to help publishers mobilize and localize their brands

 

Toronto, Ontario - November 18, 2008 - Call Genie Inc. (TSX: GNE) today announced that it has

received industry recognition and has been presented three awards by 118 Tracker at the Pierz

Group 2008 Information Services conference, recently held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The awards

include The Best Advertiser Sponsored Service, The Best Location Based Service and the

prestigious Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award in recognition of Call Genie’s role as a

pioneer and significant global contributor to the information services industry and the local search

market.

The Best Location Based Service award is in recognition of Call Genie’s solution deployed by RH

Donnelly DEX through the 1-800-CallDEX service. Leveraging a combined implementation of Call

Genie’s Interact Voice and Open Mobile products the service offers an automated, multimodal voice

and mobile data solution that enables consumer’s to find business services close to a landmark,

intersection or neighborhood. The CG Interact Voice solution delivers consumers who call 1-800-

CallDEX a unique, “localized” voice interaction and mobile local search experience. If you are in

Denver and you ask a local person for help, you might ask, “Can you recommend a Mexican

Restaurant, near ‘Mile High Stadium’?” CG Interact Voice enables an automated method for

publishers to deliver this type of localized, voice-based, mobile local search interaction. CG Interact

Voice leverages Call Genie’s database of local intersections, neighborhoods and landmarks, and is

updated regularly as new inquiries take place. “Mile High Stadium”, for example, was demolished in

2001, but is a traditional and historical name for the stadium now officially named “INVESCO Field.”

Following the voice interaction, CG Interact Voice is seamlessly integrated with CG Open Mobile to

deliver a multi-modal mobile data user experience. The result of their voice-based mobile local

search is delivered to their mobile handset via an SMS text message. The text message contains

the name, address and phone number for the business they selected during the voice search and a

link to relevant mobile web-based information including maps, directions and may include relevant

ads or other contextual information based on the mobile local search result. The mobile user

experience may also provide a link to reconnect with the voice-based service, bringing the multimodal

experience full circle.

 

The Best Advertiser Sponsored Service award is in recognition of Call Genie’s solutions deployed

by the Yellow Pages Group in Canada. The Call Genie solution, implemented for YPG, provides a

similar user experience, is built upon Call Genie’s Interact Voice product and leverages the

capabilities of the CG Open Location database. Yellowpages411, a Yellow Pages Group service,

enables consumer’s to find business services close to a landmark, intersection or neighborhood,

providing a unique, “localized” voice interaction and mobile local search experience. The service is

monetized through advertiser sponsorship. Advertisers are able to pay for priority placement in the

search results and provide custom recorded messages and tag lines which are played when the

results are presented to the caller.
