When I was first approached by Call Genie to join them, I spent some time researching them. Before joining the “Call Genie” team, I was a well respected paralegal for Criminal Law. To be honest with you, I was just applying for any “office” job that was out there when the law firm I had worked for closed down. There are companies out there that I have worked for or friends of mine have worked for that you just walk in and feel like you can’t make a difference. That the big corporate machine will just keep steamrolling on by without stopping to appreciate each individual and the hard work they do. Coming from companies like that and then walking in the doors here it was a culture “shock” if you will. EVERYONE was open to new ideas that would make things better, as most people agree, there are no egos here, just people who are looking to share their knowledge and experience to the benefit of the company and the people working here. I look forward to coming to work every day knowing that we are busy, everyone is pushing hard, and yet there is time for laughter. Moving here from another city is tough, don’t know many people and everything is new. The people at Callgenie made my transition easy by being friendly and supportive, honestly, not many companies out there that can make that claim. - Chris.
18 years is a long time to be in the nth newest profession in the world. That's how long I've been programming professionally, having worked at 6 companies before finally joining Call Genie's Toronto R&D centre 7 months ago. Unlike my previous companies where only some of the programmers were technically strong, all of the developers I've met here are top-notch, whether in Calgary or Toronto. We go through an intensive and challenging interview process to earn a spot on the team here. Once you're on the team, you will find our environment to be like a startup, with the Toronto developers all having joined less than a year ago. We have four scrums in Toronto for you to pick and choose from. Our evolving agile process is complemented by peer code reviews and automated unit tests, all to ensure the quality of the code we write.
